What is the process for ordering a wedding cake?

A cake's total price depends on time required for production from scratch, cost of ingredients and delivery. Only the highest quality premium organic ingredients are used, so be prepared to indulge your guests and yourself! Actual price varies, depending on dimensions, format (multi-tiered or single tier with supplemental, undecorated cakes), extra flavors, special dietary requests, and custom designs. Serving size is approximately 1" x 2" x 4", which is considered standard. Single tiers start at $132, 2 tiers at $265, 3 tiers at $616, 4 tiers at $920. Click the button below for a free estimate.

How much should we expect to pay for a Windflower wedding cake?

Yes, weddings that take place on Saturday or Sunday require a minimum of $800. Weddings that take place on weekdays (with the exception of Labor Day, Memorial Day or July 4th holiday), have no minimum.

Do you have a minimum order?

Yes, delivering large, stacked & tiered cakes is tricky business, so you'll want to leave that up to a professional. The delivery fee to the wedding venue is based on drive time, mileage and set-up/decorating time. Fees range from $75 for destinations within a 5 mile radius of downtown Hood River, up to $175 for further destinations.

Do you charge delivery fees?

Two flavors for cake orders serving approximately 75 or more; less than 75 servings are limited to one flavor.

How many flavors can we choose?

Yes, all Windflower cakes are layer cakes, not sheet cakes, meaning they are made with 4 cake layers and 3 filling layers. For that reason, I prefer to offer "supplemental" cakes in various sizes, which are undecorated single tiers to ensure that there are enough servings for your all guests.

Are sheet cakes an option in addition to the decorated cake?

I can provide my best customer service for cake inquiries during the months of November - April. As a ‘one woman show’ my ability to take later bookings is limited once the wedding season begins in May. The Columbia River Gorge is a very popular wedding destination, so booking approximately one year out for highly desirable dates such as Summer Solstice, Memorial and Labor Day weekends is recommended to ensure that vendors will be available for your date.

How soon should we book our wedding cake?

Do you offer gluten-free, dairy-free, etc?

Only gluten-free cakes are available in two sizes as single round tiers (6” or 8”), in the following flavors: Vanilla Strawberry, Vanilla Caramel Latte, Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Hazelnut, Lemon Blueberry. Special care is taken to double wash all utensils and equipment used in making gluten-free cakes.

Are cupcakes or other desserts part of your offerings?

No, I offer exclusively wedding cakes. Although I love making a variety of desserts and pastries, an excellent caterer is better suited to serving and setting up dessert buffets, cupcakes, etc. You are welcome to serve a Windflower wedding cake along with a variety of other desserts, but please, no other bakery’s or caterer’s layer cakes or sheet cakes.

Do you use fresh flowers or fruit for decorations?

Almost exclusively. The scenic outdoor settings of the Gorge inspire a rustic, romantic theme, and fresh flowers and local fruit are perfect decorations for wedding cakes. Your wedding florist should provide the florals/greenery for the cake, and since they are so perishable, I typically do the arranging on the cake when I deliver closer to reception time. Alternatively, you are welcome to invite your florist to make a cake topper bouquet or posies which are placed on the cake at delivery time. Fresh fruit is procured by Windflower Cakes from local farmers (when available) and is arranged on the cake at set-up.

If I am available for your wedding day I will invite you (private link provided) to schedule a video or phone consultation and buy a cake sample box available for pick-up, Tuesday through Saturday, from Lucy’s Informal Flower Shop in downtown Hood River. Photos/drawings/inspiration for your dream cake are most welcome. During the consultation, I’ll address your questions, discuss the details of your wedding and your special wishes for the cake. Complete the form after clicking the link below and I will send more information and a link to book an appointment.
